Design at Pratt

A series of 2D and 3D visual exercises made during my exchange semester at the Pratt Institute’s Industrial Design department

During my exchange semester at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, I produced a series of exercises practicing both 3D form theory and color theory. I share a few below from both.

These exercises taught me about the importance of visual relationships between colors and elements ; a valuable insight that can be applied to all forms of designs.

3D form exercises

These exercises explore different types of forms and how to arrange them in a visually interesting way in compositions

Rectilinear form exercise

Line exercise

Dynamic planes exercise

Color exercises

My color work consists of a series of exercises, and two applications of color: one to a fabric pattern, and one to a rug design.

Color theory exercises

Color impression – fabric application

Color from a master painting – rug application
